"I enjoyed my stay at Hotel Essencia. It was said to be the newest and biggest hotel in Dumaguete City. It offered affordable room rates, complete facilities - nice and clean room and bathroom. They also have free wifi within the hotel, although wifi is not that strong inside the room, one has to stay at the side of the room near the door to get strong signal. The staff at the lobby were nice and very accommodating, we had a lot of requests and inquiries and they patiently answered each and every one of our questions. Im glad i stayed at this hotel, I would really recommend it to all my friends going to Dumaguete. "

"My friend and I chose to stay in the resort to end up our free&easy in Dumaguete . The resort is located in Dauin where is famous for scuba diving . It is inconvenient to give an insight into local life as the resort is far away from the Dumaguete city , . So you may only have food in the resort . We booked an individual villa for one night , AC ran well and that outdoor showing space was the bright spot of the room ! We were also amazed by its fine designed environment and amenities , staffs were friendly and welcoming . I will highly recommend my friends to stay in the Atomsphere Resort & Spa . "

"One of the best small hotels I have stayed in, immaculate throughout, very nice room with large, comfortably furnished balcony overlooking the sea, quiet efficient AC, flat screen TV, WiFi in every room. Decent sized swimming pool and some comfortable, shady seating areas. The beach was very rocky and difficult to walk on even in beach shoes but we were aware of that before we booked so not a problem. Good restaurant, good mix of meals with a specials board every day. You can also request a meal to be cooked, as I did, and can recommend the seared tuna with teriyaki sauce. Something I did not expect was an English breakfast. The staff could not have been more helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them. We went into the local town Dauin, not much to see, some shops small market and old church. You can top up on your crisps (try the local pork crackling – called Ticheron I think). I can recommend the local Tanduay rum which we bought from a small shop in the market. You can get the air-conditioned bus into Dumaguete, just walk to the road and flag it down. Could not figure out the price, 100 pesos going and 200 pesos coming back. The jeepney is much cheaper at about 30 pesos. Getting around Dumaguete is easy using the tricycles, only 8-10 pesos around town. There is a large market, old church and sea front boulevard with good restaurants. We only went on one trip from the hotel, swimming with whale sharks. The hotel driver took us to the ferry port where we took the boat to one of the other islands, where he waited whilst we were taken by dugout canoe into the bay where we swam with the whale sharks. Very good experience. "

"Love this resort, it’s around 30-40 mins away from Dumaguete city. It’s a place to relax and have an enjoyable time with my family. Marine sanctuary is 15 mins walking distance, we went there for the snorkelling, love it. "

"My wife and I have done some extensive traveling across the Philippines the past 20 months and Pura Vida is perhaps the finest place we've found. As American's we are accustomed to certain standards that we used to take for granted. Pura Vida resort lives up to that kind of American standard. The staff was really helpful and friendly. The facilities wonderful. Food was delicious with many choices to enjoy. The beauties of the area are abundant but don't miss what is under the water. We are not divers, but enjoy snorkeling and found this area to be among the most beautiful we've ever seen. Vivid coral, giant sea turtles, and fish aplenty. If you're looking for an outstanding place to see some of the best beauties of the earth, this is it. I highly recommend Pura Vida and it's friendly and knowledgeable staff. "

"Dumaguete Springs was a great find. It worked perfectly for our family of 6. The pool was such a relief in the hot climate. The only downside was that there was no shallow part for little kids other than the steps. The room was great and had kitchen, washer and fridge which allowed us to cook our own food. It could have been better equipped but it was easy to buy a frying pan across the road at the supermarket. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There is a huge supermarket directly across the road as well as a couple places to eat and the awesome (but greasy) fried chicken street food. It's also very easy to catch a pedicab right in front of the hotel which will take you wherever you need to go for about P25 or less. When we go back to Dumaguete we will definitely be returning to Dumaguete Springs. "

"it's a very nice resort near APO island ferry port @dumaguete Daoyin area, I should say only 2mins driving from the ferry port, if you are booking to diving at APO island, MAHI resort will be a awsome choice. after your tiredsome exciting diving day return from APO island, it's excellent to back to hotel with just 2mins driving, it's very new and clean resort compare with nearby other resort, and it's very good management with local team, the kitchen was also excellent, wonderful food, wonderful swiming pool, wonderful host. the boss couple is from Russia, and the counter lady is very kindly and excellent english communication skill, I call them beautiful fish lady. it's deserve my top high praise at dumaguete."

"We very much liked it at White Chocolate Hills Resort. It is about 40mins by tricycle from Dumaguete city, which isn't exactly a nice city where you would like to stay for days. We were stuck there, as the ferry service was suspended due to stormy weather. We were extremely happy to find a nice resort, with very attentive and friendly service relatively close to Dumaguete city. The resort has access to the beach. However, we've seen nicer beaches on the Philippines. But otherwise, this resort is a great option!"
