La Union Province hotels & places to stay

"It's worth the long trip". That's the first sentence we uttered upon reaching the summit of Thunderbird Resort at Poro Poro Point in La Union. Though, it took us six hours on the road, the travel was smooth and the road was amazingly beautiful. Added to that was the pleasant scenery along the way. The hotel staff is accommodating and polite. The room is cozy. The best room we had occupied so far because of the perfect view of the beach and the sunset from our room. The food served at Olive's is delightful to our palate. We really enjoyed the sumptuous complimentary buffet breakfast served as early as 6am. The resort was secured so we opted to swim at night. Too bad, we were not able to experience the warmth of the sun, the seawater and the sand. The resort does not encourage swimming due to high waves and rocky areas. I hope they can do something to improve it.

Location was great althought it wasn't found in google maps and gps of our car. The rooms were clean and really comfortable. I think all rooms come with balconies. The place looked luxurious. Their rates are expensive during high and peak seasons. Pool is small as compared to how it looks on pictures. No night life, you still have to travel to san juan. i loved the place because its clean and it looks great it looks luxurious compared to other hotels in la union, its very relaxing. although its far from night life and famous restaurants, we still enjoyed the place. the staff were very accomodating although not all of them are informed about activities that the resort has. Its a non-smoking place perfect for families but as for us we didn't like their policy because we weren't allowed to smoke in the balconies as well. Over all, it offers luxurious accomodation at a competitive price, the food is good but the complementary breakfast sucked.

We enjoyed our stay in Kahuna Beach, infinity pool is clean and the view is awesome, our room is clean and okay to relax but they didn't give us our complimentary water also, their are staffs there that doing there job well, like some are using phones, whenever customer calls the waiters they are not very helpful and friendly, and the food is a bit expensive and not worthy of the price, much better if you try different food areas in La Union. but Overall the Resort is great.

Not your Kahuna (am I supposed to mention other hotel names? anyway...) in terms of prestige and facilities but it was worth my money. as rookies in La Union, my friends and I went there without having a clue to do. we only had a hotel booking and that's it. we went early and just made a shot for the moon if we can check-in early because we have been in La Union since 2 or 3am. The front desk officer politely told us that we can't for the moment because they are still prepping our rooms since it was occupied earlier. which is totally understandable given that we went there a day after surfer's week (or whatever it is really called). on the other hand, the front desk offered us a room where we can temporarily put our belongings so we can go around the place and grab something to eat. some hours later i got a text message informing us that our rooms were ready to be occupied.

Being one of the few remaining hotels in la union during soul surf 2014, we decided to choose awesome hotel among the others just for the fun of the hotel's name. We were happy that it did live up to its name during our stay. It needs to have more water sports for guests though. La union is known as a surf spot so maybe arranging a free shuttle to surfers would be nice. It removes the problem of the flat water in front of the resort. The aussie owners are also very friendly. They even offered to drive us to the bus terminal on our way home! Will consider coming back when something new comes up in that area.

We were scheduled to travel to the regional DFA in San Fernando, La Union and had decided to stay in the area for the weekend. We had 3 choices actually when booking and good enough we chose this resort. We were greeted by friendly staff, especially Gladys who was manning the reception area. There is no shoreline as the waters on the beach had eaten up the few meters of sand and the waves are dangerously slamming into the breakwater rocks. We had to spend our swimming on the pool which was clean in a well-maintained landscape surrounding. The room was just enough for the four of us, wife and 2 kids. Basic amenities with queen bed and single bed with TV, air conditioning, free wifi and hot water bath. They served complimentary breakfast too. The best thing about the place is the food. Great choices of combo-meals and Filipino specialties. We sampled several of their offerings absolutely delicious. They are very generous with their servings too. The kids and the wifey were satisfied

One of the best accommodations I had for this year! The room and CR -- very spacious. There's cable TV and ref inside. The WiFi is fast. You'll literally feel the vacation that you deserve. They also have pool inside with Jacuzzi. Their restaurant is located on the edge of the beach that makes the experience more chill and relaxing. The staffs were very consistent in terms on being so accommodating and approachable. We stayed for 3 days and they will greet you all the time when they see you around. *There's a beach in front of the resort. I'd say it's average. If you want to feel the fine sand beach in La Union where surfing is known, then you have to go to San Juan. That's around 25-30 min ride from the resort (Bauang).

The rooms in this hotel aren't huge or lavish, but they are clean with new furnishings and everything you'd expect. The food quality was good (though service too a while - the staff are friendly but not that fast). The pool was great, and it has direct access to a semi private beach. The location's a bit out of the way and a bit odd, it's built right next to an airport, but don't let that put you off as it appears only to be used by the occasional light aircraft and no commercial jets, so noise wasn't an issue at all. I'd be happy to return if passing through the area again.

hotel choices are limited in the san fernando city, la union area. this seemed to be the nicest without going to a very expensive resort hotel. right on the highway so a bus from manila can drop you right at the hotel. restaurant food was good, the complimentary breakfast was either a sit down filipino, continental or american style breakfast. stayed in a small room with queen bed in the main hotel. the room was ok but a little dated and the ac was noisy.

I would have given this 5 star if the beach can easily be accessed. Too bad the beach is far from the main resort. walking is not an option due to the heat of the sun. No free service going to the beach. Food is okay, pool and slides need to be fixed, some parts are rusted, not good for the kids. Love that they have attentive lifeguards when my daughter had a small cut- first aid was applied immediately.

The staff were all friendly and intuitive. They returned stuff we left after check out too! The room was spacious and well ventilated - much more than what it look like in the photos. They have enough towels, blankets, pillows, tissue rolls. Leaving a broomstick would top it all! There was hor and cold water although the pressure wasn’t that strong, The toilet was also manually operated and could use a bidet - but for us these were negligible The location was perfect - it was right in front of a well-maintained shore of San Juan beach There was enough kubo and tambayan infront of the beach - perfect for evening chillax and morning refreshments There was a pool, billiards table and a videoke although we didn’t really take advantage of these provisions. There was also a decent parking space although the drive from the main road to the hotel was along a narrow road, so big cars may have a bit of a challenge. Overall, we loved our stay and would definitely book again!

I already read the reviews and wasn't expecting too much for the place. This was my 6/7th place on my trip and I just want a place close to the bus station (which was literally right next door so you can hear buses all night) First thing I needed to check according to the reviews where the bed bugs. Boy, the way that that room heats up during the day. Don't worry about bed bugs. Second review I had was the A/C was too loud. I found out that if you left the window ajar, it wont rattle the window as much. Third was the DRIPPING sound, solved it by putting the towel on top of my A/C unit, since the dripping comes from the A/C unit one floor up. If you can't sleep at nights, Lloyda at the front desk, shes really helpful with information to where you wanna go if you're in the San Fernando/San Juan/Bauang area in La Union.

I took my parents to this resort and I was not disappointed. I love the place and beach was amazing. The pool was a bit too salty and probably had too much chemicals that day. The room was very clean, but I think the staff forgot to remove a bar of used soap in the bathroom. Other than that, the place was very warm and cozy. The staff were mostly hospitable and really nice. We highly recommend this resort for anyone who wants a nice outing in La Union.

We booked last Oct 5-6, 2018 for our La Union Trip and P and M final option is our chosen resort to stay. All the amenities in the room description are satisfied. The room is clean and has a lot of space for 2 people. You also get free coffee and electric kettle to use for boiling water and free 2 bottled water. We are very shocked on what the room is because we didn't expect it to be so good. They have free live band on the evening. You can drink and talk with your loved one while listening to acoustic music. The food in the restaurant is a bit pricey though. So I advise to eat a lot before checking in. It's beach front and the beach is pure sand. You will not see big stones or any rock formation there. I can't say any bad about this resort. All I can say is, you will enjoy staying here and it's worth every bits of you money.

For the budget travels, this one if highly recommended. price is 550 php for an overnight stay. common rooms only hammock or bunk bed option. fan only free breakfast - pandesal, peanut butter, banana (yes, you'll get a free breakfast on a 550php stay on a great location in la union location is just across the beach at san juan, la union. Common comfort rooms, girls common comfort room mens common comfort rooom wifi is only in the common area to summarize this, this hotel will definitely value your money,.

First time to stay at a bed and breakfast. Room was very spacious. And staff/owner is friendly. Concerns: 1. Difficulty in locating the place since sign is not really visible along the highway unless you will be aware of where you are (google map helps a lot) 2. There is an additional P100 per person for an early check in 3. Towel provided only good for 1 person 4. Lights for the room still located outside the room 5. Very thin curtain Overall, still had a decent sleep after a good night in San Juan, La Union. Will probably stay again here.

Sir Ariel was an excellent host. He was very busy as it was the peak season, but he called me when I said I arrived in La Union earlier than expected. He allowed us to check in early too (there was a previous guest, but they cleaned the unit as soon as they checked out so we managed to check in at 1). Place was a 5 min walk to the beach Near flotsam and jetsam. There was a store and an eatery nearby. Facilities were all working. AC was cold and quiet. Sufficient elec outlets for everyone to charge. Beds were comfy. Blankets were fleece. Wifi worked, but wasn't excellent. Fridge, kitchenette, and dining area was a huge plus. No hot and cold shower but that was indicated on the listing. Will definitely book this place again! Ideal for a group of 4-6.
