Traveling to Australia? Find Australian Capital Territory hotels

When we decided to spend a two-day trip wandering around the capital city of Australia, we found it to be a little bit difficult to find an accommodation with good price and location at the meantime - couldn't find a better option than the Forrest Hotel and Apartments. The hotel, which is more like a motel actually from what it looks and equips, locates in the tourist area where it is convenient to walk to most of the tourist spots, and there are restaurants, cafes, bars and supermarkets around. Just wish the cost could be lower!

It was the third time in two months I had stayed there for business. The exceptional value and convenient location (especially if you have a car)was what attracted me initially. I had no complaints at all. You cannot expect five star accommodation in an hotel like the Rex, especially as it is undergoing an upgrade, but it doesn't pretend to be anything other than what it is. A Canberra icon in many respects, a bit long in the tooth but still able to offer a good quiet room and a jolly good breakfast all for an excellent price.

We had a weekend at this hotel and would definitely do it again. The room was lovely and exactly what we expected from the description and photos. What really stood out though was the staff. They were in sync with the relaxed vibe in the hotel while still maintaining a 5 star service. Nothing was an issue, requests for late check out, request for the room to be made up at 5 pm, etc. The staff were all friendly and obliging without being stuffy and making you feel like they are really doing you a favour. Loved the idea of the loot bag and the lollies in the lobby (but that might be my sweet tooth talking).

The staff were wonderful and helped us so much with maps and directions. They were all so cheerful and polite. Our room was a very good size. Upon request, we were supplied with a toaster and a micro-wave. All other amenities were already in the room including free wi-fi, TV and fridge. The shower was magnificent! and roomy. Bed was very comfortable as were the pillows! Those can be rather hit and miss in motels but these were great! The only suggestion I can make is that maybe they should put another chair at the bench. Only one could sit there at a time to eat or use the computer. Other than that, I would definitely stay again. Walking distance to the Hellenic Club where the Stamp Show was, the Westfield Shopping Centre and the Royal Australian Mint. Driving distances to other attractions were minimal. Overall, delighted and glad we chose them for our visit!

the room was comfortable and clean. the walls are not very well noise insulated though - when the neighbor watches tv or has a conversation on the phone, you can partially hear it. what always gets me is that high ranking hotels like this still don't offer free wi-fi. they charge i think 75cents per minute to log onto the internet or unlimited for the day. every mcdonald offers free internet access and in other countries that is just a given. why are australian hotels behind everyone else?

My stay was so wonderful and only minutes from the airport. The staff were friendly, went above and beyond to cater for my needs and in particular I would like to highlight Catlin in the dining room, Vicki and Tony in reception. If I ever return to Canberra, which I am sure I will, I will choose to stay there. It was so homely from the moment I walked into the foyer. The internet connection was complimentary and the prices and quality of the menu were amazing. Great team, great location, great staff and all in the hub of Australia's capital city.

Our stay was excellent. We truly couldn't have asked for a better place to return to after a good walk around a fantastic city. The hotel staff were extremely helpful and new how to get to where we wanted to go. The room was so comfortable. I tend to judge a hotel mainly on the bed - and ours was awesome. Our bed at home is no slouch in the comfort department...but the bed made especially for this Hotel was nothing short of sensational. Our next trip to the nations Capital will most definitely be spent at this hotel and a huge thanks to the staff who made our short stay feel special.

Two bedroom room was a beautiful apartment with every facility needed. Been renovated and was perfect for a few days stay. Most hotels in Australia like this are usually run down and expensive. Free Wifi, Breakfast was $15 but worth it. Suitable buffet, nothing outrageous. Check in was a breeze and easy. Gym was great for a hotel this size. Cons: $10 parking. At $270 a night just include parking. Its not much, but I dont know why Aus hotels charge these small things. Breakfast: We cancelled a booking for breakfast and they didnt charge. Which was good, if expected (hotel didnt make any extra food for that booking). I didnt really need to be reminded about proper booking practice though. Aus hotels dont really get the small stuff right.

The room was nicely furnished, with at a terrific, central location. You won't be able to walk to sights such as the war memorial, but it's close enough, and well within walking distance to some very good coffee, food and a micro brewery! The bathrooms, however, were a bit tired looking (but was fine), but I found it strange that there was no bottled water was provided. Yes, I know that Australian tap water is perfectly safe to drink,, but most hotels that I've stayed in have always had complimentary bottles of water. In addition to this, the pillows were terrible, flat and lumpy. tl;dr: Great location, decent hotel that has room for improvement.

A couple of low points first hard to see location on opposite side of road trees have grown and hide singngage. Second parking is a bit complicated could not understand why they might move my car when i parked it and if they get busy they move cars to another safe location it just does not make sense move the late comers.Third the expensive breakfast all over europe we never had to pay for an elaborate buffet breakfast. Sorry there is another complaint the pool area too cool as well as pool water.Its a pity that these small problems can not be ironed out as the rest of the hotel is perfect the staff so friendly.A pity you charge %ges on Mastercard payments but that must be ACT/NSW hidden tax as it does not appear in any other state on Mastercard cards.

We needed to stay in Canberra on our way back from a snow trip. We were tired and needed a quick meal and rest. We booked into the motel rooms and they were really clean and well appointed. The best part of the place was the excellent restaurant onsite with a great selection of food (all of it nice). We could get a good meal without going too far. Set in amongst bushland, not far from the city, it was really quiet and easy to sleep soundly. I'd definitely book here again.

Very satisfied with the hotel! We booked Double Studio and stayed for 1 night. We had 2 queen beds. Hotel is very new and is not on GPS yet. GPS led us to Best Western, which is just right beside Abode. Parking was plentiful within hotel compound. Check-in was a breeze and we were located at level 1. They have a porter trolley where guests can use for ease of transport of luggage to own room. Wifi signal is strong throughout. Room is Immaculately clean! Full laundry facilities and nice toiletries too. There is full kitchenette and even a coffee capsule machine. Room is as per picture with a dining table and tv. Bed is super comfortable like those 5 star hotel and fluffy pillows. Super value for money and i would strongly recommend this hotel to anyone and would definitely book this hotel again if i visit Canberra again.

I have been staying at Breakfree Capital Tower Hotel with my overseas visitors during our visit to Canberra. The staff member at the reception was so friendly and gave us a warm welcome to the Apartments! As soon as we entered the spacious apartment we felt so homely and very relaxed. Then I realised the hotel has given me more than I have asked for. I booked a 2 BR apartment and it has been upgraded to 3 BR at the same price. I am so happy about my stay at CBF hotel. The City location is fantastic closer to all the places of interest and shops. CBF has provided me the best service. I will definitely come back.

The hotel was located in a great location in a quiet area only a short drive from the centre of Canberra. We booked two rooms one for myself,husband and two boys and another for my elderly Mum.Mum was booked into a room in a separate building to us so we asked if it would be possible to get her a room closer to us-we were very impressed by the reception staff member who assisted us(sorry dont know his name) young slim blonde hair guy -he was awesome and he went out of his way to help us find a more suitable room for Mum. Only negative was that the queue for breakfast was huge meaning a lengthy wait for a table-we ended up going to MacDonalds for breakfast the second morning!The staff did seem a little overwhelmed by the sheer volume of guests!to be fair we visited on a long weekend so maybe the hotel needs to put on a few extra staff at peak times? Having said that the rooms were great beds v comfy.We would stay at the hotel again and would recommend the hotel to friends.

Our stay was excellent... The room was large and quiet, with a great tv and entertainment package with cheap pay per view. We were upgraded to one of the four balcony rooms by simply asking, which demonstrates the staffs commitment to a high standard of service The room was large and comfortable, with a great layout and one of the best beds ( and pillows) that I have ever experienced in a hotel ( note... Hotel, not resort) The rooms were clean and well serviced by polite and helpful staff, who provided prompt and cheerful service, whilst checking in and out was a streamlined exercise. The hotel is also well located to Parliament House and the ACTs raft of museums, which is a bonus I would definitely stay at the Burberry again and would recommend it to Any and all travelers But... Here's a tip... Pre book with agoda and you will save bulk money

We had the 2 Double bed room. I originall booked it as the size stated it was 54 m²/581 ft², this wasnt the case at all, its a standard 27m room. Anyways that aside this is a fabulous restaurant. Located at the airport it is a little out of town. Parking is severely limited and the carpark fills up fast. Alternative outdoor parking is available. The Hotel is clean and modern. Great bar downstairs and great amenities. Would definitely stay again

My wife and I ran out of affordable hotel rooms within Canberra city centre for the Easter holiday so we have no choice but to look for alternatives at the city outskirts and finally booked at Abode Hotel Tuggeranong. Tuggeranong, one of the districts of ACT, is 20 Km further south of Canberra. Despite the distance though, it was a good choice, surprisingly. Firstly, Lake Tuggeranong is an amazing place and we really enjoyed our morning walk by the lake. The hotel room too was wonderful, clean, and spacious. It has the most fully equipped kitchenette of all the serviced apartments we have stayed. Pros: -Building is new and clean. -We booked a Studio Apartment and we still have our own bedroom, separate from the rest of the room. The kitchenette is fully equipped with cookware, utensils, dish dryer, microwave oven, oven, toaster, coffee maker, induction cooktop, big fridge, your own small dining table, etc., as well as washing machine, dryer, and free wifi for the room. Carpet is new and clean. Bedroom is a little bit small but we are not complaining since we booked a studio in the first place. -Room has its own spacious balcony -Parking was for free and there were lots of spaces available. -Hotel is just across the shopping centre which is very convenient. -Good service from the staff. Check-in and check-out was a breeze. -Close to Lake Tuggeranong, a good place for relaxation and recreation Cons: -Just a small one though. The shower has no door so when it is being used, water would spill over from the shower floor to the rest of the bathroom floor

The Hyatt in Canberra is somewhat confusingly called 'Hyatt Hotel Canberra - A Park Hyatt Hotel' rather than just being called 'Park Hyatt' like the others are. It is good with friendly staff and big rooms but it's not a Park Hyatt as the name hints. The location is very convenient - an easy walk to Parliament House and National Gallery along the lake. We walked to the Australian War Memorial easily although sometimes it feels that Canberra would prefer that you drove everywhere. There's no need to valet park which is $25 per night - there is plenty of free parking around the hotel. One slight weirdness on our visit - our Agoda voucher said B&B package but also said 'Breakfast not included'. Hyatt staff were confused but included breakfast for us. Lucky as it is $38 per head for the only ok buffet.

The hotel is located in a good location which is very close to O’Connor and Canberra City. The room was neat and clean and of an average size. There is a basic well equipped gym which we did not get to use. Easy access to shops down the road in O’Connor. Complimentary Wi-fi was available and all major channels as well as some Foxtel channels were there. Parking facility is available and is currently free of charge due to a bit of construction work going on - ask at reception for assistance on this. Dixie at reception, provided us with an adaptor that fitted an overseas built hair straightener which was very helpful indeed. Checkout was very quick thanks to Paula at reception who promptly emailed the tax invoice as well. All in all, a good stay and will be using this hotel when we travel to Canberra.

Stayed at this hotel during Australian Day long weekend with my 8 months old son, we booked the suite room which was an excellent choice. This room has kitchenette, full size fridge and combo washing machine/dryer, 2 TVs (one in the bedroom and the second one in the huge living room). A cot is also provided for my son but he prefer co-slept with us in the comfortable king size bed. Location is just few minutes drive to the nearest Coles and Parliament House. This hotel will be our first choice if we come to Canberra again.

We had a great stay at the capital executive hotel.. Being the first time in Canberra the hotel was well positioned close to the city centre. The rooms are very comfortable and travelling with a little one it had everything we needed... Kitchen had all amenities which was a great surprise.. We didn't have a chance to eat at the restaurant so can not comment there but great place to stay. The staff were lovely and after leaving our little ones favorite teddy in the room we were pleased to return and enquiry about it a few days later and it was reunited with our daughter..thank you!!

friendly staff, nice location in downtown canberra. the room was nice and comfortable although the bathrooms were showing their age slightly and will be in need of renovation soon. the breakfast menu was good and the wait staff were efficient and helpful. all in all this was a good stay however it was not cheap even by australian standards at night. i believe this was largely due to parliament sitting and hence most rooms in canberra being already sold out by the time i needed to book.

i spent 8 nights here and couldn't fault it much. the management were courteous, friendly, efficient and helpful. i was leading a party and all of my colleagues were most impressed with the hotel which though somewhat plain on the outside offers a high standard of hospitality. my only gripes were the miniscule toiletries provided - must be the smallest i've ever seen. the internet facilities were poor and expensive. fortunately we came equipped with 3g simcards! we tried the data cable connection in the room only to be informed we had used up our quota in just 5 minutes. anymore was available at exhorbitant rates. breakfast was ok on day one but having a good kitchen facility in our 2 bedroom suite we decided to prepare our own breakfast therafter. the kitchenette is extremely well equipped. the suite also contained a dishwasher, a washing machine and a clothes drier. complete! the housemaid service was unobtrusive and faultless. the adjacent markets were handy for both eating and some purchases. a shopping mall was just 10 minutes walk away. highly recommend this hotel.
