"We were lucky enough to arrive on the hostel's opening night and so got to meet and celebrate with the owner and staff. All very friendly and went out of their way to help us & make our stay great. All spoke English to varying degrees, there seemed to be at least one of the staff at hand who spoke very good English, either way all were very patient when trying to understand if there were any trickier conversations than just checking in. We stayed in one of the private Japanese style rooms, very well equipped with a/c, remote control light, balcony and comfy futon beds. Whole hostel's decor is set up in traditional Japanese style housing and had a very nice feel to it, while keeping modern with its new equipment and decorating. Kitchen, Japanese style dining area and lounge area all also fantastic, all filled with brand new kit and plenty of space. Showers were also good, seemed like plenty of them and again all new, only small negative was the walk down a floor and partially outside to reach them (route is all covered but might be chilly in the winter). Each floor had some sinks and toilets so not a problem there . There is a bath house style bathroom for up to 3 people to book out, huge bath and was very close to an onsen experience (staff even ran the water for us). Location was excellent, less than a 5 minute walk from the JR train station Nishinomiya (literally south down the main road then on a side road on the left), convenience stores and post office also less than a 5 minute walk (so ATMs were also widely available). Train station is midway between Osaka and Kobe, around 10-15 minutes to either by train, so we found it very well placed as a base for visiting either cities. We had been travelling around Japan for 3 weeks before staying at this hostel (including Tokyo and Kyoto) and this was one of the best hostels we had stayed in. Great value for money and will definitely be back if we visit Japan again, highly recommended. Thank you Toyotaya! "
