A shell of its past”
I have previously stayed at Mantra MacArthur back in 2019 and had enjoyed my stay; it is interesting how much has changed in 5 years (not in a great way): Pros: 1) Good price point for the size of room 2) Very close proximity to CBD and lightrail station 3) Wifi is decent Cons: 1) Misleading photos - You can forget about any scenic views represented in the room photos. There is now a huge building being constructed in the front of the hotel, and photos of rooms with "open mountain views" are no longer valid - you will be staring straight into construction, the workers, and fair bit of noise during the day. You can ask for rooms on the opposite side: staring straight into a neighbouring apartment block, though at least it isn't still under construction. 2) No housekeeping - By the end of our 2nd day our rooms were not cleaned. We visited the concierge and were told that we have to pay extra (!) for someone to come and clean/tidy the room, change the towels, clear the bins, etc - this used to be daily and included with stay. If your booking is "limited housekeeping" you may ask for fresh towels from the counter, but they will tell you that the other aspects of housekeeping will cost extra. Can be an issue for people staying for a few nights. 3) Dustbin and towel rack in toilet were broken, seems like it's been like that for a while 4) Foxtel channels are programmed to tv but not working (no longer unsubscribed?) Overall our stay (3 nights) was adequate but it was disappointing when compared to my past experience.

My teenage son and I stayed for three nights. I was very happy with our stay. Very clean, warm, staff were great (staff explained the parking very well and gave us extra pillows when we asked). Although parking is in the building next door it was simple. Excellent location based on our requirements, with lots of great restaurants within a five minute drive. The other stand out for me was how quiet the place was. Apparently the hotel was full, but I didn't hear ANYTHING from other guests. Highly recommend.

Great modest hotel”
Great work-based hotel that's new and generally quite clean. Had a base double room with one armchair and a sheet wasn't clean so was upgraded to deluxe double room. Deluxe has extra 2 m2 but is actually narrower (and feels somewhat claustrophobic), but has window wide desk with desk chair. Otherwise the rooms are almost identical. Big thumbs up to Ainslie for being very friendly and accomodating. Took the extra time to explain things like parking, which is next door and somewhat confusing. Also note parking has wall plugs on pillars for those with EVs, but only enough parking for a fraction of patrons. Note that the grassy lawn in front of the hotel is now a construction site for a new building.

Stayed for 8 nights. There is a new high rise building construction happening right now so 7am the banging starts (2022/10). If you want to sleep in probably stay elsewhere for 2022/2023. Hotel is clean. Staff friendly. Have a gym. No pool though which is a downside. Tram right outside the hotel which is convenient, but I find it expensive for a one stop travel. If you travel all day multiple times it works out cheaper. Location : it’s not in the city centre. About 3 km away . $12 on Uber. 15 min on scooter. I travelled on scooter. Weekly pass is cheap. Easier to get around close by areas. Dickson is close by which I visit daily by scoot. Nothing much around mantra. So must go out further to eat . Have not tried restaurant in mantra so can not review. Easy with giving late check out as I travelled during school term. Off peak season. Stayed here as it’s close to the sport ground I visit.
