“It's a truly exceptional inn!”
As others have mentioned in their reviews, the room is very beautiful and equipped with more than enough amenities for a comfortable stay. There are welcoming snacks and water, a kitchen, a balcony, a fluffy bed, and although it was advertised as a double bed, it was actually about the size of a queen bed. Everything you need is provided, including spare towels for when you go to the beach or pool, clothespins, and more. There is a coin laundry outside, but it is a bit pricey (about $6), so washing by hand might be a good option. There is a supermarket (Woolworths and Coles at Cairns Central) nearby, so we bought meat every day and grilled it. The kitchen comes with cooking utensils (there's even a frying pan, knife, and rice cooker!), but there is a communal barbecue area outside that looks fun to use. Additionally, there is both a heated and a regular pool outside, with some people swimming late into the night. The location is very close to the station, making it easy to visit Kuranda. It’s about a 20-minute walk to the Reef Terminal for island trips, but you can enjoy the morning walk. One downside mentioned in other reviews is that next to the window is a logistics warehouse for a store called Office Work or something similar, so from 6:30 to 7:30 AM, the noise from trucks coming and going can be quite loud (you can still hear it even with the window closed), but for those leaving early for sightseeing, it might serve as an unintended alarm clock and not be a concern. As a point of caution, when booking via Agoda, since you have to register your credit card, I mistakenly thought the amount would be charged at the time of booking, but it’s actually local payment (this was also mentioned on the booking page). Owner Jackie is truly kind and helpful. It seems that this accommodation also shares the same name as the apartment in the same premises that offers hotel rentals, so if you have to choose, I definitely recommend this one!
