"had to book a hotel in sydney in a hurry. after going through hundreds of hotels in various websites i decided to book 'devere hotel'in potts point. probably i was lucky to get a really good deal. per night for a single room suited my budget well (believe me sydney hotels are expensive). i was not impressed by the comments about this hotel but decided to take a chance. location is convenient. 500m to the kings cross railway station and the bus stop is right in front of the hotel. woolworths across the road (and coles situated 500m away) is always handy. room was quite satisfactory, bed was comfortable, reverse cycle ac keeps you warm in winter, hot water was great and housekeeping was good. reception was great at helping the customers. unable to comment on food as i could not eat from the restaurant. if only they provided free wifi ....but none of the sydney hotels give you free wifi (except backpackers) overall i was really impressed by the quality of the hotel and the room considering the price. hope that they would maintain the good standard so that i would not have to hesitate in choosing devere hotel next time around in sydney. "We found the location excellent. Good facilities nearby eg supermarket and restaurants. Easy walking distance to Kings Cross station. The hotel staff very helpful especially Rudi who went out of his way to assist. Although the room was on the small side the bed was so very comfortable and made up with good linen. We would definitely stay there again and recommend Hotel Challis. "

"This was my Eleventh stay at Highfield Hotel in two years. The staff are always so helpful, but special mention must go to recent addition Peter. Peter goes out of his way to make all guests feel welcome and he is never too busy for a chat. This is what makes Highfield Hotel a real home away from home. Likewise Owner Adrian and son Eden go the extra mile to ensure that all of their guests have a pleasant stay. The free included breakfast is plentiful and of good quality. The availability of a kitchen with hot plates, oven and microwave is a welcome feature if you need to self cater. The communal bathrooms have all been renewed and are generally clean. The beds are comfortable and the rooms more spacious than other budget offerings in the area. The location is second to none being a short walk to the Train Station, Woolworths, Coles, restaurants and the Kings Cross nightlife. I personally prefer the Highfield Hotel to more expensive properties I have stayed in the area."
