"we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here (3 nights). most westerners seem to quickly pass through kota bharu on the way to the perhentians, but we feel it is well worth staying a couple of nights at least. we found the people to be generally friendly & accommodating. our room was clean & comfortable with a man-size bath & shower. even room service meals were cheap & delicious. the staff were very friendly & prompt in rectifying any minor problems. their english was a little limited at times but certainly much better than our bahasa. we paid approx. us$230 for 3 nights in a premier room with a quality buffet breakfast included. excellent value! kota bharu is a hidden gem (imho) - easy to walk around, vibrant markets, interesting history & culture, great food & retail if desired."

"This is my 5th trip to Kota Bharu. We definately will stay in Renaissance Hotel because of the strategic location. The hotel is near to the town especially Pasar Khadijah and quite close to Pantai Cahaya Bulan (PCB). It will take us about 20 minutes drive to get to the beach without heavy traffic. My family especially my hubby love to be in Kota Bharu because of the marvelous foods that we can find over there. We like to be in PCB where we can eat "Fresh Deep fried Fish(ikan goreng tepung), squid, prawn and etc.." with colek...Yummy...!!Yummy!! while kids will enjoy playing kites by the beach..."

"Very new hotel so the plus points were that the rooms, furnishings, sheets etc were all relatively new/ used only a few times. Check in was fast. We weren’t aware kelantan state charged rm2 tourist tax per room but was well explained by the front desk staff. Located next to orange mall which Has some fast food options. Cons: 1. location - about 5-10mins drive from Kota Bharu town. 2. Ongoing construction, so some areas still dusty. 3. Water pooling in the shower. Not sure wether it was just a problem in our rooms. However, we didn’t have time to complain and it didn’t bother us so much. 4. Breakfast: very limited choice But overall it was a good stay for our family of four. "

There is a nice restaurant right in front of the hotel for breakfast, and it is about a 10 minute walk to some good Chinese restaurants as well as a Maybank and MyDin.
