Hobart hotels & accommodations
This is a good Hobart hotel. It's well located with easy access to all the local sights, restaurants, waterside activities. Hotel staff are professional if somewhat impersonal, and very efficient. The rooms are of a good standard and all the expected amenities are available. Although situated in the middle of things, our room was quiet. This hotel has a good reputati...
After reading many negative reviews I decided to try it nevertheless because of the casino at the base. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of service beautiful peaceful surroundings good choice of restaurants and activities available. The birdcage had live music every night. They have expanded their casino although small it is adequate. Our room was an executive...
We snuck away for a late planned 3 day weekend and were fortunate the hotel had capacity for us (there were several conferences on). We stayed in a Superior Harbour View room the first night and a Superior Mountain View room the second night. Both were very spacious and comfortable with great views and good wifi (if your budget allows go for the Superior Harbour). ...
used this hotel for a mid week getaway for a catch up trip with an old friend. the location was perfect for relaxing and also sight seeing around hobart. we spent evenings out on the balcony just chatting, watching the boats and the people walking by. with a glass of wine in hand it was the perfect place to chill out and relax. infact although there were many good rest...
every villa has a stunning vista of hobart from 200ft up. what brochures don't tell you is that hobart is VERY hilly. so to stay at the villa, be best advised to have your own mode of transport to get around. the villa did not have restaurant facilities but is a short drive to the centre of town where you will be spoilt for choice. there is also a park behind the villa...
The Best Western Hobart is in an excellent location and it's an easy walk to everywhere. The bathroom is very small and the whole room is a bit dated and worn, however the bed is super comfy. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was yummy. Good value for money for a Hobart Hotel.
Conveniently located near Salamanca Place at Battery Point , St Ives is definitely an ideal location to stay if you are visiting Hobart. Theres a Coles and Woolsworth not far away as well to stock up on groceries to cook in the lovely kitchen provided. A 30min drive to the top of Mount Wellington, less than 10min drive to Cat and Fiddle Shopping arcade in downtown Hoba...
My partner and I stayed at the Ibis Hotel in Hobart on the 3rd on Nov for a night. Georgia at the front desk was very helpful. She talked me through parking and made sure we took our bags upstairs first as it was a bit of a walk! Room was perfect for two. Clean and neat. Thank you!
Went for Dark Mofo festival and MONA never stayed at Henry Jones before but I have been to Tasmania and Hobart many times in the last 15 years. I didn't set my sights too high but I was very pleasantly surprised. Great hotel one of the best in Australia! I'll be back for sure.
We recently stayed at Sullivan Cove Apartments in the IXL complex in Hobart in a 2 bedroom apartment. The apartment was very spacious and the staff were very helpful. The design of the ensuite bathroom for the main bedroom was a little ill-thought out: a double open shower in a small space meant the rest of the bathroom (toilet, floor, sink area) got drenched if anyon...
the hotel is situated in the central of Hobart and you can easily access to many tourists attractions in Hobart. Hotel staffs are generally friendly and helpful. The room is neat and tidy. It is definitely a good choice if what you ask for is convenience.
I tried two hotels in Hobart and I think this is the best in terms of the location and price. It only takes 5 mins walk to the bus station to Launceston and 7 mins walk to the pier. You can book local tour at the front desk. This is very helpful for tourist. I would try it again if I go to Hobart.
We stayed in 3 hotels in Hobart, but this is the best one!
Somerset On Salamanca is perfect place for a relaxing, quite, next to home accommodation for couples and even business travelllers and easily accessible to most major places of interest when visiting Hobart. The room is comfortable, clean, quite and has a great view of Derwent River and its harbour right at your balcony. The staff were very accommodating as exemplifi...
we had a great time, the reception staff were all excellent with my enquiries about local areas and information on how to get there. the restaurant meals were great and service was prompt with friendly staff. I would definitely stay there again and recommend the motel to any friends who may be travelling to Hobart. my son was entertained by 'blindy' the duck and we u...
It is only a few minutes to New Town and less than 15 minutes to North Hobart / Hobart. The room is very basic but all facilities are there. Bed is comfortable and bathroom contains all amenities. Shower gels, hand lotions etc are from dispensers. There is a communal kitchen if you want to cook. Reception and cleaning staff are very friendly and helpful. There is enou...
when you just need to get a bath and a comfortable bed right out from a long haul flight, this hotel is a godsend. the cabin has 2 bedrooms - one with a queen bed and the other a double. there is a fridge, stove and tv - just about everything you'd expect of a cabin near city. and most importantly, this place is quiet. hobart is 15 minutes away - please be aware of ...
Great old hotel that has traded as a hotel longer than any other hotel in Hobart. Checking in was quick and efficient and we were directed to your room. Climbing historic staircases and looking down a long hallway that has dropped a little overtime we entered our room which was enormous. So large that the TV was about 7 metres from the bed end. Bathroom was fine and to...
We have stayed at Woolmers twice before. It is reasonably cheap for accommodation in Hobart. The rooms are definitly a bit dated and could do with some work. We stayed in winter and our heater kept on shorting out the circuits in the room. The fan in the bathroom also did not work. The best thing about Woolmers is the location. You are a 5min walk to shops and restaura...
I'm so happy to stay at Montacute for 2 nights and it's the best backpacker hostel I've ever been to! Everything is very clean and tidy. People are nice and quiet at night. I had very good deep sleep. Also, the owners are very friendly and not just run their family business for money only. They take care of backpackers. For example, beds are very comfty and high qualit...
Nice hotel in Hobart. The Asian eateries in the hotel complex close late (9 pm i think). There's a supermarket just across the road. There's also a macdonalds down the road. Car park is a bit small so do be careful if driving a large car. Overall, I had a nice and pleasant stay.
Battery Point is the most attractive and convenient place to stay in Hobart. From Blue Hills it's a lovely walk past attractive houses and gardens to Salamanca Place with its excellent cafes, restaurants and shops and of course the famous Salamanca markets on Saturdays with over 300 stalls. Motel rooms are very comfortable and the staff very obliging to fulfil requ...
I took a single room as I was heading for my Point to Pinnacle torture. The bed was comfortable, and clean. The location is convenient close to amnesties and not far stroll from sight seeing and Hobart attractions. The only issue is with noise around the building, its antique, so you would feel most steps. I personally dont mind that.
I TRAVEL OFTEN FOR BUSINESS AND THIS OFFERED ALL THE THINGS I NEED/ WANT IN A ROOM - GREAT BED EXCELLENT BATHROOM PLENTY OF SPACE TO WORK AND RELAX-SMALL KITCHEN AREA- GREAT VALUE CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST $9 AU- LOCATION WITH GREAT ACCESS TO MAIN AREAS OF HOBART WATERFRONT ETC- FREE EASY PARKING VERY MODERN BUT TASTEFUL DECORATION FLAT SCREEN TELE AND DVD CD - ROOM RATE S...
We enjoyed our stay for a night. We are far enough to avoid the hustle and bustle of Hobart CBD but close enough to venture into Hobart whenever we want.
mantra one sandy bay road apartments are in a great location opposite lovely gardens and 5 minute walk to hobart cbd, salamenca and battery point. we stayed for one night ina one bedroom suite on the second floor looking back over the mountains. the room was huge, clean, comfortable and modern! we didn’t fly out until late on our last day and the staff organise...
Amidst good reviews and having had good previous experiences we hit a bad day. Our room was great and overall the hotel remains in the top end of Hobart accomodation. Our experience was spoilt due to management not putting enough staff on in the breakfast room. Double time obviously an issue. This is the result of being MEAN. It was mothers Day !! We booked the Wint...
We went for 16 days in Aussie, and our first destination was Hobart. We were greeted warmly on arrival. The staff was very friendly. He helped us in everywhere he can, such as lending us adaptor and guide us how to set the GPS on our car. Upon entering the room, we were surprise to see a bottle of red wine, a token from the hotel for our honeymoon celebration. The room...
Cheap places to stay in Hobart
The hostel is clean and comfy, and the staffs are really nice! Definitely the best choice considering a budget accommodation.
Great little backpackers, just outside Hobarts CBD. I really enjoyed staying here. The staff were friendly, helpful and accomodating. Breakfast was included in the price and was very decent. Toast, cereal, tea, coffee, orange juice etc... They even supplied morning papers to read over breakfast. I was attending a course in town for the week so not the usual backpacker...
If you’re looking for a charming, fun hostel to meet people to travel around Tassie, look no further. They have free shuttle buses to take you to see the MONA and Mt Wellington every week. They also have a pool table, Netflix, Foosball table, guitars in case you want to stay in. The staff are the absolute best! Dean, Emily or John can tell you about the events going on...

The location is convenient close to amnesties and not far stroll from sight seeing and Hobart attractions. The only issue is with noise around the building, its antique, so you would feel most steps. Cosy little room for my week spent in Hobart. The counter staff always provided clear directions to where I wanted to go and that made it so much easier! The room had all that I needed (mirror, heater for this cold weather!) :) I was lucky to have the toilet right outside so it was very convenient! Would definitely come back again :)
Personally for me, it considered as a good hotel. Nothin to complain about. The staffs were quite nice. When using free wi-fi, please make sure that besides the password, you should also be provided with login code by the staff. There's a Woolworths supermarket just across the hotel. You can find many cafe, pubs, restaurants around the area. You need to take a privat...

Hostel is located right in the heart of the CBD, so a very central location. Staff are really lovely and accommodating, even was lucky enough to be upgraded to a 2 bed dorm for 3 out of the 4 nights I stayed. Hostel is clean and cheerful, and beds are very comfortable. Only negatives I would say is that the central location does make it extremely noisy, I am a heavy ...
The location of hotel us excellent, close to Richmond bridge and Richmond Bakery. The room is large and good natural light from windows. Highly recommend.
It is only a few minutes to New Town and less than 15 minutes to North Hobart / Hobart. The room is very basic but all facilities are there. Bed is comfortable and bathroom contains all amenities. We had a bit of trouble spotting it but the room was lovely and we could cook our own dinner! overall a great stay.
Had a wonderful stay at the Astor, a warm welcome and warm, cosy room on a particularly wet and frosty weekend in Hobart. Lots within walking distance - positioned right between Salamanca and the CBD. Everything was very clean and the bathroom was right across the hall from my room. Would definitely stay again. Thanks!
While the room rates are of good value and include a light breakfast if you have a car it is an extra $12 to access the hotel car park. In Hobart most hotel car parks are free, with a security code to control the use.. For this hotel you pay $12 to get the security code.
Check-in was fuss-free, I was given the pin to front door and the security locker for my room key on the morning of check-in, as promised. Location is great - supermarket and many cafes nearby, just need to walk 5 mins to Franklin Square for bus stops to board airport express.
Our stay at the Hobart Tower Motel over the busy New Year period was quite pleasant and enjoyable. Parking was ample with easy access, and staff were very informative, efficient and helpful. While not a luxury hotel by any stretch, we thought it was very good, honest value for money, with all requisite essentials and facilities clean and in good order. The location...
Well-equipped cabin located close to the Hobart airport. Checked in late due to flight delayed and left early morning to catch sunrise at Mount Wellington the next day. Unfortunately din't have the chance to look around the place.
Great location. Fantastic price. Incredible hosts!! One of the best accommodation I've ever stayed at.
I really enjoyed my stay in this lovely B&B. The refurbished Victorian building is beautifully decorated with the host's interesting and eclectic art collection. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, and the facilities are squeaky clean. Very close to everything that you need to see on a flying trip to Hobart. I didn't think my single bed room, quite noisy with the ...
I stayed at Mornington Hobart as a base to explore Hobart. It is only 10 mins drive from airport so it was a excellent for first day arrival and last day when flying out. Place is clean and nearby about 5 to 7 mins drive is a supermarket Coles and Woolworth. Very convenient. Kitchen is also complete with stove, pot, pan, plates and knives. The 5 berth comes with a fire...
Our microwave wasnt working so the owner rushed out and bought us a new one straight away...very impressed. Beautiful friendly hosts very clean unit, would stay again
Good size rooms and very comfortable with great view over Hobart and the water. Good value relative to other accommodation.

We enjoyed our stay for a night. We are far enough to avoid the hustle and bustle of Hobart CBD but close enough to venture into Hobart whenever we want.
We enjoyed 8 nights at Harringtons 102 Hotel. Our only complaints, rock hard pillows on the bed. (The bed itself was excellent!) and no free parking in the area at all! Apart from those two issues we have no hesitation in recommending Harringtons 102 Hotel, it's a great (budget) place to stay in Hobart!
We booked this motel expecting to have a rental car in which to tour around Hobart. The hotel is not in central Hobart but out in Glenorchy (northern Hobart). Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances we had no car and so had to rely on public transport and walking. The bus to and from Hobart is virtually on the motel's doorstep and there are adequate shops 15 min...

Stayed for 4 nights From the breakfast pack each day to the free drink voucher each day they give you at check in to check out it’s a great place for the money. Food was great there and plenty up and down the road to eat. Enjoyed food there most nights as it was so easy and good value meals the one night I had pizza across the road was just as good Super clean rooms w...
Lovely older building set walking distance to the Casino and a short drive to Battery Point Salmanca markets and Hobart. A reasonable contanentsl breakfast in a comfortable setting , friendly staff. The room was a good size bathroom a little tight but cant say we didn't enjoy our stay.
Family owned this place sits just at the edge of the CBD overlooking Hobart. The decor is retro but facilities are excellent - comfortable bed, spacious rooms and bathroom. The fact that it is in a large plot of land makes for easy parking, without having to worry where to park later. Salamanca and the wharf are only 15 minutes walk away, making this a good base if you...
Very good location. Walking distance to the Hobart city and the whaft. Fantastic view over the bay. Large room with colonial feel and friendly and helpful staff. Whole family enjoy the stay.

MONA Pavilions was exceptional. The best hotel experience I've had around the world. Fantastic accommodation, service and experience. Highly recommended!
Lovely hotel in Hobart. Some reviews have really knocked the Rydges but I found it be comfortable, quiet and good value. I do agree that a renovation is due and the room staff were not exactly attentive to details (bed not made after first night) but all in all a nice place to stay. Only real downside for me was the lack of reasonable dining and a supermarket within w...
stayed in a 2 bedroom for 1 night. one room was like a palace, the other one was bearable. the bigger room has a jacuzzi bathtub and that toilet was huge. nice couch area for watching tv and chilling out together. and also a dining area where we could have our meals together. kitchenette only has a microwave and sink, with cultery and utensils. however, there was no st...
Excellent location for visiting Salamanca Market (opens Saturdays only), and the waterfront where there are lots of restaurants. Hobart CBD isn't very large, so Elizabeth Street Mall is just 10 minutes walk away. There is also a "Farmgate" market on Sunday, but Salamanca was enough for us. Room was spacious. Kitchen was well equipped. Wish I had more opportunity to...
Great place to stay in Hobart. Near everything! From shops, groceries and even the Harbour and Salamanca market. I would stay here again if I am in Hobart.

We stayed for 12 nights at the Pinot Cottage. The hosts were helpful, polite, and went beyond the required to ensure our stay was as perfect as possible. The large spa tub, generous living space, fully equipped kitchen, master bed with a stunning view, and great location in the Coal Valley wine region make this a great get away. With a bunk in the spare room, you could...
The lodge is a really nice place with an England feel! The garden and lounge area are cozy and inviting. Jeff has also been really kind and lovely throughout our stay! Wished we had more days to chat with him.. Breakfast was good and sufficient to start our day of exploration around Hobart! I hope to come back again!
This apartment is well appointed with a full kitchen and two great bathrooms. It is in a great location, within a short walking distance to a number of attractions, great restaurants and the markets. However it does suffer from traffic noises in the early morning. We struggled to get the apartment to maintain a consistent warm temperature (as we were approaching wi...
A nice place just 15 mins from the Hobart International Airport. The cottage is well decorated and we gazed in awe when we check-in the cottage. Every details is so fine and Maureen, the owner touch up these details herself. Nice! The cottage is comfortable and warm during the winter days. Each room has a heater (including the bathroom) so this save us a lot during th...
We enjoyed our stay with our parents. The cottage was beautiful. The location was a little far for our parents to walk to Salamanca market, they walked downhill but caught a taxi return and cost about $12. The walk did not bother me, it is a pretty walk. If we travelled with a group of people to Hobart again I would definitely consider this property. The kitchen...
Loved the quaint charm of old Hobart. Beautifully converted old cottages, in an excellent location. Friendly welcome and non pretentious. will recommend it to my family and friends.
Highly appreciate how hospitable the 2 hosts - Tony & Martin were in ensuring our stay was a comfortable and pleasant one. The attentiveness to detail and how nicely furnished the apartment was made our stay really pleasant. We were there for 3 nights and having the accessibility to nearby amenities and good food was great. We were also in a pretty good location of San...
Don greeted us will a friendly call before we checked in and also once we arrived. He was extremely pleasant to talk to and provided great service where required. The apartment is very modern with a great view over Hobart City. The location was very convenient as it was close to the supermarket and tourist attractions. I would happily stay here again in future return v...
My hosts were so welcoming and my room so very comfortable. The home and property is magnificent... many photos to show. Breakfast was simply tasty and presented in a magnificent dining room. Loved the art. Absolutely recommend your stay in Hobart.
accommodation in hobart can be difficult to book at times. brighton is a small town outside hobart (25 klm)on the midlands highway. we stayed two nights and were able to see most cbd and suburban attractions including mt wellington. the hotel/ motel is very new and is of an excellent design. rooms catered for all needs and were warm and spacious yet extremely quiet. ...
We loved the location; being on a farm and encouraged to explore and enjoy the animals was wonderful. Our hosts were exceptionally courteous and hospitable; supplying fresh eggs etc., for our breakfast; and extended themselves in telling us some history about the property and how they run the farm. A bonus! Overall, having stayed in two other properties, one in th...
One thing that stood out was the fact that Jason (the host) had an immediate response to all my questions. He also helped to extend extra night immediately after knowing that i booked a night short for my group. Also, we found he had prepared bread, milk and coffee capsules for us when we checked in (sweet little touches). We went into Hobart with minimal planning, b...
We stayed for our 10th wedding anniversary long weekend away. We had and easy drive to the local wineries(divine),resturants, attractions and to Hobart for a great Meal at Mures. The Barracks was warm, clean and with having to leave our dogs at home, it was nice to be able to pat and cuddle Bruno, the owners dog. We have already started to recommend "The barracks" to ou...

I stayed at the Penthouse loft for my mini-honeymoon. Great location for a couple or family holiday due to the short walking distance to the Salamanca market, Mona ferry, and reputable restaurants. Friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommended and I will come again when I visit Hobart.
Small luxurious hotel but does not skimp on services. Friendly staff who all seem to enjoy what they are doing and takes their time explaining things to you. Very comfortable king size bed, clean and modern bathroom with quality toiletries. Very yummy breakfast, especially the vanilla porride and perfectly cooked eggs and baked beans. You can order whatever you want fo...
The upstairs room had a very low roof, constantly banging my head, stairs are narrow, not sure how they passed building codes, had a fall taking suitcase down the stairs.
Coralie is a very friendly and wonderful host. The room is kept in pristine condition and we wake up to a great view of Sandy Bay! Recommended if you are looking for a quiet place with a great view at reasonable pricing.
Lovely older building set walking distance to the Casino and a short drive to Battery Point Salmanca markets and Hobart. A reasonable contanentsl breakfast in a comfortable setting , friendly staff. The room was a good size bathroom a little tight but cant say we didn't enjoy our stay.
great spot 10 minutes to hobart, very close proximity to kingston blackmans bay, margate, cygnet and huonville magnificent scenery nearby and interesting place to visit. Hobart is a quaint old city in which the most beautiful sight is on entry from the north when suddenly driving into the city, the beautiful old wharf/harbor area appear out of the blue! The old buildings really make this city, with a sensible mix of modern.
Delightful place to live great ocean, river and mountain views from almost everywhere clean fresh air for a city great choice of restaurants not much for tourists 2-3 days tops
I feel that on the whole, people of Tasmania are the most friendly and are always willing to show you their city or towns.
There is so much to do in Hobart, and interests to suit just about anyone. I wish we would have had more than the 3 days we allowed ourselves, as I don't feel that we got to experience and do all we wanted during our time there.
Hobart is a really beautiful city with stunning water views around. A backdrop of small mountains and islands was just so peaceful.
Friendly & nice people. A city that is not too crowded and fast pace. Royal Tasmania Botanical Garden & Mt Nelson are quite nice to visit.
Hobart, and Tassie in general, is beautiful!! We went to Port Arthur (one hours drive) for a day trip, did a day tasting cheese at Wicked in Richmond, patting kangaroos and koalas and wombats at Bonorong in Brighton, and a magical dinner at Barilla Bay oysters - unfortunately the berry picking farm in Sorell was closed for winter.
Joined a Gray Line tour of Hobart and Port Arthur for a day and the tour to the snow-covered Mt Wellington was spectacular.
Hobart was awesome, there is alot to do there. Salamanca was cool, there markets there were great. Check out Mt Wellington if its a clear day
Port Arthur, MONA, the local zoo, Cascade Brewery, there's several relatively affordable tours all around
Horbart is a beautiful city, it is clean and cool. We were there in February and come from Queensland so loved the climate.
The history and harbourside are the cities main drawcards, but it also has a spectacular natural playground in Wellington Park at its doorstep, which is well worth exploring if visitors are at all keen on outdoor activities.
It is a beautiful city, surrounded by hills and with a lovely waterfront. People we dealt with were relaxed & friendly.
Hobart is a center point where you can go to other places easily, such as the Bruny Island, Port Arthur etc.
Hobart is just a city, but it can be a very good base for travels to surrounding attractions such as Port Arthur, Mt Wellington, Bruny Island etc.
Clean city, not too busy. Easy drive around the city but may have to look for parking space. A good place to be based at, and explore Mt Wellinton, Houn areas and Bruny Island.
If you have young children or are young at heart, visit when the Christmas pageant is on, it is a fantastic reflection of community.
A place to get in touch with yourself, with nature and simply enjoy being!. A place to appreciate history, culture and people.
Hobart is very lively town and nice place to stay and visit. Will definitely visit this place again.
So much to do - shopping, sight seeing, historical tours, arts, dining ..... great history, great city!
Head down to Salamanca Market on a Saturday. In the afternoon about 4pm drop into Cargo Bar and sit outside and watch the people go by.
HOBART IS A BEAUTIFUL HISTORIC CITY IN A GREAT LOCATION. THERE IS PLENTY TO DO IN AND AROUND HOBART WITH LOTS OF TOURS VIA BUS OR FERRY, OR IF YOU HIRE A CAR YOU CAN DRIVE YOURSELF.
Loved Hobart, just wished I'd stayed longer in the city. Am definitely going again to see the rest of it and enjoy the markets on Sunday.
People are friendly in Hobart. And its more convenient to travel there by car instead of taking public transportation.
Hobart is a peaceful city, very quiet during night time. A lot of good restaurants near to the pier.
Hobart had a historical and cultural feel that made it a interesting mix. We love what has been done in the Salamanca area and the fact most places are within walking distance.
Lovely to visit but not enough accommodation. Will be better in a few years as they grow more accustomed to tourism
pace of life, cleanliness, central, flat for walking. We went for fabulous breakfasts out of the hotel although theirs looked excellent , but we were recommended by Dave on the front desk to go to a couple at Sandy Bay and the walk there was beautiful and the area around the cafes was super
Hobart is the state capital and most populous city of the Australian island state of Tasmania. Founded in 1804 as a penal colony, Hobart is Australia's second oldest capital city after Sydney.
no night life here, only bar or pub. All shops closed at 17:00. Can treat as a place as relaxing travels.
