Crete Island hotels & accommodations

One of the best hotels I’ve stayed at and great value. Hotel is beautiful. When we stayed there, there was a conference, however, the hotel took the time to still take care of each guest. We love the hotel because of its location. It is very near old town and the harbor and a great place to centralize yourself while visiting Heraklion. We walked here from the bus stop,...

Agoda indicated free on site parking so my first impression of LATO was not good - no onsite parking available, not even for unloading luggage - parking was offsite, a ten minute walk, and only free after much complaining. AGODA needs to contact hotel and correct this information on their website. All that being said, I was delighted with our room. High ceilings made t...

My friend and I had an amazing stay at Civitel Creta Beach Hotel! The location is perfect—right by the beach and just a short drive from Heraklion, making it easy to explore or relax as you wish. Comfortable rooms and lovely outdoor spaces to enjoy the sun and sea. Both breakfast and dinner were excellent—great variety, fresh ingredients, and something for every taste....

The location is central, and the cleanliness is impressive, especially with the staff being very friendly. The breakfast was also decent! The room was cozy and nice. One disappointing thing is that when visiting Crete, people generally move a lot to Chania, so renting a car is common, but there is no parking available. However, if you submit the Atrion Hotel parking d...

We stayed here for a week in May, we arrived late at night and were welcomed very warmly. We were disappointed to find that we did not have a balcony as requested but the staff were very helpful and accommodated our request as soon as they were able. Staff were lovely, the hotel was very clean and we loved the pool area, which we had to ourselves most of the time. The ...

Super beautiful beaches, culture places and cities. The best is to rent a car and do a round trip by car.
We staged in a little studio in Chania. Then moved onto a 5* all inclusive hotel. The studio was cheaper, but both worked out exactly the same overall.
We stayed in Heraklion but should have stayed in Chania, which we found to be very pretty, with lots of restaurants and activities.
Its a beautifully diverse island with everything - from archeological heritage sites to hiking trails & grand mountains to beautiful beaches.
My husband & I honeymooned in Greece and picked Crete for our first week. We stayed in the towns of Chania & Rethymnon.
Crete is a big island, it is diverse, you have historical places, nature and national parks, beaches, old towns, shopping etc.
Crete is a beautiful island, with ancient history, and opportunities to do a lot of hiking, and outdoor activities.
Crete Island hotels with breakfast

It's conveniently located within the old town, making it easy to go anywhere, and the condition of the accommodation is not bad. Breakfast starts at 7:30, and although we had to leave at 7:20, they prepared coffee and bread in advance, so we could have a quick snack. I recommend it.

This is a brilliant hotel. Great location near the beach and about 15 minutes walk from the Old town. The rooms are extremely comfortable and very clean. Staff are helpful, friendly and courteous. We have stayed here 3 times and can thoroughly recommend it.

This hotel is located directly across from the ancient museum, right in front of a bus stop, and adjacent to the old town, making it an ideal location. Since I used it during the New Year period, there were few guests, and the atmosphere inside was calm. It also provides direct bus access to Knossos, and the city bus terminal is within walking distance, making it a gre...

It is a place with an incredible view. The breakfast buffet was included, and I ate there every day; it was so delicious, and the view from the breakfast buffet was amazing. All the staff were very friendly. The downside was that it was far from the city center, but there was a free shuttle bus to the Old Town, which was nice. Being located on a hill made the view even...

After a late arrival from the airport I received a friendly welcome, had a relaxed sleep and enjoyed a good breakfast. I recommend the hotel for a city visit especially with early starting or late arriving flights. However, it is not a resort hotel despite its inviting pool area.

It’s just a few minutes walk to the port, and the location is great. The bathroom was clean, and the water pressure was satisfactory. The breakfast buffet was very delicious. Also, I left some belongings in the room after checking out, but I was greatly helped when they contacted me about it.

The accommodation was clean, and the staff were very friendly. It was conveniently located in the center of Heraklion, making it easy to access the harbor and great restaurants, and it was also very close to the archaeological museum and the airport, which enhanced the satisfaction of the trip.

The location is perfect, right in the middle of the market but it’s not noisy at all. The room is clean and spacious. The staff are super friendly and helpful, they arrange the transfers for us and helped us to book taxi for our trip to the waterpark. The breakfast offers quite a lot of options as well.

For the price, this was an exceptional choice. The location could not be better, just a block from the sea and right in the midst of restaurants, bars, and shops. Breakfast can be enjoyed in the cutest garden - a real treat. The swimming pool was quite small but adequate. The housecleaning was impeccable. I also enjoyed the lovely balcony adjoined to my room. We spent 6 very enjoyable days at Arkadi Hotel in Crete. The location is extremely convenient, and it offers great value for money. The breakfast had a solid variety and was truly delicious. I would whole-heartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and convenient stay.

A place that became part of my Chania experience My stay at Cocoon City Hostel was one of the most positive parts of my visit to Chania. I originally chose it because of its convenient location and good reputation, but after staying there I understood why so many travellers recommend it. This is not simply a building where guests are given a bed for the night. It is a...

Wonderful stay with our family of three. Our room felt very cozy like a home away from home. It was clean and had a small kitchen, television and heater/AC. Agoda was a very cost effective way to book this hotel. Had a couple of issues that were sorted before we arrived.. The hotel was full when we arrived but never felt busy. Imagine sun-soaked beaches, ancient ruins, and charming villages all waiting to be explored. The island is steeped in mythology, home to the legendary Minotaur and the ancient Minoan civilization, making it a fascinating place for history buffs and casual travelers alike. Whether you’re lounging on the soft sands of Elafonisi Beach or wandering through the narrow streets of Chania, Crete offers a unique blend of relaxation and adventure.
One of the island's most enchanting features is its diverse geography. From the rugged mountains of the White Mountains to the tranquil shores of the Aegean Sea, every corner of Crete is a postcard-worthy sight. The island's natural beauty is complemented by its warm and welcoming locals, who are eager to share their traditions and stories. A visit to Crete is not just about sightseeing; it’s about immersing yourself in the local culture, tasting authentic Cretan cuisine, and experiencing the island's famous hospitality.

When to Experience Crete Island Magic
The best time to visit Crete Island is during the spring (April to June) and fall (September to October) months, when the weather is pleasantly warm, and the tourist crowds are thinner. During these seasons, you can enjoy comfortable temperatures ranging from 20°C to 30°C (68°F to 86°F), ideal for beach outings and outdoor activities. Springtime brings the island to life with vibrant wildflowers and lush greenery, while fall offers a spectacular display of autumn colors. Both seasons are perfect for hiking, sightseeing, and enjoying local festivals.
Summer, particularly July and August, is peak tourist season in Crete. While the island buzzes with energy and excitement, temperatures can soar above 30°C (86°F), making it ideal for sunbathing and water sports. However, be prepared for crowded beaches and higher accommodation prices. If you prefer a quieter experience, consider visiting during the shoulder seasons when the weather is still delightful but the crowds have thinned out.
Winter (November to March) sees fewer tourists, making it an excellent time for those seeking tranquility. While temperatures can drop to around 10°C (50°F), the island remains beautiful, and you can explore historical sites without the hustle and bustle of peak season. Some attractions may have limited hours, but winter is a fantastic time to experience local life and enjoy traditional Cretan cuisine in cozy tavernas.
Essential Travel Tips for Crete Island Explorers
Traveling to Crete Island can be an exciting adventure, but being prepared can make your experience even more enjoyable. One of the most important tips is to familiarize yourself with local customs and etiquette. Greeks are known for their hospitality, so don't be surprised if you're offered a warm welcome with a friendly smile. A simple "Kalimera" (Good morning) or "Efharisto" (Thank you) can go a long way in connecting with the locals and enhancing your travel experience.
When it comes to transportation, renting a car is highly recommended for those wishing to explore the island at their own pace. Crete is home to stunning coastal roads and scenic mountain routes, making driving an adventure in itself. Public transportation is also available, with buses connecting major towns and attractions. However, having your own vehicle allows for greater flexibility and the opportunity to discover hidden gems off the beaten path.
Another essential tip is to pack appropriately for your trip. Comfortable shoes are a must for exploring ancient ruins and hiking trails. Don’t forget to bring swimwear for those stunning beaches and a light jacket for cooler evenings, especially during the shoulder seasons. Lastly, always carry some cash, as smaller shops and tavernas may not accept credit cards. With these tips in mind, you’re set for an unforgettable journey through Crete!
